Mahler: Symphony No. 6 with LU Philharmonic

Between 2007 - 2022 Eugene Albulescu was director and conductor of Lehigh University’s Philharmonic Orchestra, consisting of students, faculty at large, as well as community members. The orchestra achieved new standards during his leadership, performing giants of the repertoire that include the integral Holst Planets, Berlioz’ Symphonie Fantastique, Mahler’s Symphonies no. 1 and 6, Shostakovich’s Symphonies No. 5 and 7, Rimsky Korsakov’s Scheherezade and Capriccio Espagnol, Moussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Debussy’s La Mer, the integral Firebird Ballet of Stravinsky (semi-staged), Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, Tchaikovsky’s Symphonies No. 4, 5, and 6, Beethoven’s Symphonies No 1, 5, 7, and 8, as well as Prokoviev’s Symphony No. 5. The orchestra also performed countless concerti from the mainline repertoire, as well as modern works including several US premieres. His excerpt from the first Movement of Mahler’s 6th Symphony.
